How Ready2GEO calculates its scores

What our analyses actually measure, what they do not, and why that distinction matters.

The key point first

These scores measure your site's technical and editorial readiness. They do not measure citations actually observed in AI answers.

What we measure

  • AI crawler access: OAI-SearchBot, GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended
  • Crawlability and indexability: robots.txt, sitemap, meta tags, response codes
  • Structured data: JSON-LD, entity consistency, Organization, Product, LocalBusiness
  • Editorial citability: heading structure, question and answer format, self-contained answers
  • Performance and availability: response time, weight, HTTPS, redirects
  • Mobile readiness and the trust signals shown to engines

What we do not measure

The standard audit does not query the models. It analyses your site, not their answers. It therefore does not measure:

  • how often ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Perplexity actually cite your brand
  • your position or share of voice inside generative answers
  • how those citations evolve over time
  • what a model "thinks" about your company

What the paid audit adds

The full report goes beyond the analysis of your own site. It is enriched with citation data from a specialised third party provider that observes the answers AI engines actually produce. You can then see whether your brand is cited, on which queries, and against which competitors. That is the difference between measuring your readiness and measuring your presence.

How the score is built

The engine runs 49 technical checks grouped into families (crawler access, structure, data, performance, trust). Each check carries a weight and a severity. A blocking issue, such as a blocked advertising crawler, caps the score regardless of everything else: a site that is otherwise perfect but unreachable by AI engines is not a ready site.

Stated limits

  • The analysis covers the pages fetched, not an entire site.
  • Fetching is capped in volume to prevent abuse: on a very heavy page, markup placed late in the document may fall outside the analysis.
  • Content rendered only by client-side JavaScript may not be seen, which incidentally mirrors what most AI crawlers see.
  • A high score improves your chances of being cited, it does not guarantee them.

AI engines

The absence of an officially documented crawler does not mean an engine cannot reach the site. Ready2GEO therefore applies no penalty in that case.

Refusing training takes nothing away from discoverability: only blocking an index or retrieval crawler affects the score.

No engine-specific crawler is officially documented and usable by Ready2GEO today. The score therefore rests on universal signals only, with no penalty.

Data and privacy

Every analysis feeds aggregated statistics (domain extension, CMS, ecommerce platform, scores) used to publish studies on the state of the web. These records contain no personal data: no email address, no raw IP address, and the link to an account stays detachable.
